Fairmount Bathroom Design
The mandate for this new bathroom was to create a space where the client could feel transported to the Mediterranean without being country-specific or overly themed. The deep indigo blue multi-tone ceramic glazed tile, made in Spain, was selected to envelop the space and reference the sea. The black and white patterned floor is evocative of a traditional Moroccan tile floor, although porcelain tile was specified instead of cement tile in order to maximize durability and resistance to cleaning products.
A corner shower pan with trench drain was custom fabricated with white engineered stone and a corner notch to accommodate an existing plumbing chase. Low iron shower glass was specified along with a built-in tiled shower niche. The freestanding teak vanity with integral white solid surface sink top was custom made for the project. Freestanding tub and toilet, along with the shower pan and sink top, were selected in bright white to maximize contrast and evoke a nautical feel. Antique brass was selected for all plumbing fixtures with black metal accents for shower glazing trim and hardwired towel warmer. The profiled shape of the mirror and accessories utilized were curated as part of the overall, exotic aesthetic.
